Government rebates

Government rebates for solar and batteries.

Government programs can reduce the upfront cost of solar and batteries. We take the federal discounts off your quote, so you don’t claim anything yourself. We’ll confirm exactly what applies to your property and system on your quote.

Federal battery discount (Cheaper Home Batteries Program)

  • Since 1 July 2025, eligible home and small business batteries get an upfront discount through small-scale technology certificates (STCs), under the federal Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme.
  • The discount depends on the battery’s usable capacity and when it’s installed. It steps down every six months.
  • Since 1 May 2026 it’s tiered by size: the first 14 kWh gets full support and larger capacity gets less. Support applies to up to 50 kWh of usable capacity.
  • The battery must be an approved product, sold by a New Energy Tech Approved Seller (we are) and installed by an accredited installer.
  • We take the discount off your quote; you don’t apply for it yourself.

Federal solar discount (STCs)

  • Eligible solar systems also create STCs under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme, which reduce the upfront price.
  • The discount reduces each year until the scheme ends in 2030.
  • We take it off your quote.

NSW virtual power plant (VPP) incentive

  • In NSW, households that connect an eligible battery to an approved virtual power plant may receive an additional incentive under the NSW Peak Demand Reduction Scheme, usually through the VPP provider.
  • It’s separate from the federal battery discount. Ask our team whether a VPP suits you.

Your questions, answered.

Do I need to apply for the federal battery or solar discount myself?

No. We apply the discount to your quote, so the price you see already includes it.

Will the battery discount change?

Yes. It steps down every six months, and larger batteries get less support per kWh. We’ll show you the current figure on your quote.

How do I find out what I’m eligible for?

Your federal discount comes off first. Spread the rest with 0% interest in NSW.
